The Marius van Dokkum Museum in Harderwijk is a museum where laughing out loud, engaging in conversation with strangers visitors and where children enjoy art as much as adults. The Marius van Dokkum Museum is also the only registered museum in the Netherlands of a living artist.
Van Dokkum's paintings are known for the mild social criticism on display. Van Dokkum's goal is to hold up a (laughing) mirror to the public. Besides painting, Van Dokkum still works in a paper factory, so he still stays in touch with society.
